I knew a Hibbet in NJ years ago, not Hibbert though. I doubt there are any europeans still alive in south africa from I have not seen in the news. Have you tried the family tree sites? I found a common ancestor on one of them and traced back to 9th century normans and William I, the king not the black eyed pea.

Hi Carol,
I replied several hours ago to one of your postings about a Hibbert man from Cape Town. I have some information about a 79-year-old friend of mine, Bernie Hibbert, who may (note "may") prove to be a useful source of help, if he is not actually the man you are looking for. Given the sensitive nature of some details of his life, I can't post it on a public forum just yet. For more details and a recent picture, you can contact my by e-mail on mwgeodek@mweb.co.za. Bernie was born in January 1931 and lived in Cape Town, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is the person you are seeking.
Regards,
George Starita (I prefer real names to my boydek screen name)

Well good luck, I'll send them your way if I find any Hibberts!
